Failure to empathize
It is easy to forget the trials, the hardships, the sufferings which happen in our lives. When we see others experiencing the same suffering we have experienced, we fail to empathize with them, because we forget how it was like when we suffered. We forget, because we never take time to carefully learn from our times of suffering; instead, we are so eager to get free from the suffering. And as we do get free, we do not want to remember what we have just gone through. We quickly move away from them, and remember them no more. That is why often it is repeated. When the same suffering comes to us again, there is no difference from the previous ones. We never learn to go through it better, because we forget them.
