One confusion that happens quite often is on the meaning of the word verbal. People usually take it that to communicate verbally means to communicate in speech, that words are spoken and heard. But actually verbal means much more than that. To communicate verbally means to communicate in words. It is not limited to spoken words. Written communication is also verbal communication. But often people do not know this broader meaning of the word verbal and get into unnecessary misunderstanding whenever they encounter the word verbal.
