Ezekiel’s journals

“Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. (Eze. 1:1) In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity, . . . (Eze. 1:2) And it came to pass at the end of seven days, . . . (Eze. 3:16) And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. (Eze. 8:1) And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me. (Eze. 20:1) Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 24:1) And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 26:1) In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 29:1) And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 29:17) And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze.30:20) And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 31:1) And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 32:1) It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, . . . (Eze. 32:17) And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, . . . (Eze. 33:21) In the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the selfsame day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither. (Eze. 40:1)

Ezekiel did his journal writing, we find considerably precise dating sprawling over steadily throughout the book of Ezekiel. He recorded the life in his place and over the course of his time well. Writing long journal entry every single day might be an exertion to some of us. Cheerfully we may persevere to be consistent. We may persist to write something everyday. Even if on certain days the total of lines written is one, that is enough. Eventually we shall certainly be pleased and benefited by the effort to record the Lord’s faithful daily dealing with us, however modest our effort may be.
